The Silver and Girl Scout Gold Awards are a milestone in many Girl Scouts’ lives. This event should be celebrated and provide cherished memories for the recipients and their families.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest honor a registered Senior Girl Scout can receive, and the highest achievement for girls in Girl Scouting. The efforts required to earn this award express a special commitment to one's self, the community, the world and the future.
The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest honor a registered Cadette Girl Scout may receive. It requires achievement in skill building, career exploration and growth in the program as evidenced by the attainment of specified Girl Scout recognitions.
The Girl Scout Bronze Award is the highest honor a registered Junior Girl Scout may receive. It shows a girl has made a promise to help others, improve her community and world, and to become the best she can be.
The Religious Awards programs are created by the various religious groups to encourage girls to grow stronger in their faith. GSUSA recognizes these programs and allows the recognition to be worn on the official uniform, but each religious organization develops and administers its own program. Religious awards are optional programs for girls to complete with the help of their families and religious leaders.
Every year in Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma, to commemorate the Silver and Gold Awards, a speaker provides inspirational words to the girls and their families. It is truly an uplifting time for everyone present. Traditionally, the speaker for the ceremonies is a local person, familiar with the Girl Scout program and who can speak to the benefits of the program.
Bridging Awards are earned when girls complete activities which introduce them to the next level of Girl Scouting. Through bridging, girls who move from one membership age level to another have something to help ease the jump. The Bridging Guide is designed to help troop leaders with the requirements and ceremony.
