Whatever site you choose you will find something special waiting to be discovered. Each has its own charm and attractions and each offers different experiences not to be found anywhere else. Most important, remember that these facilities exist for you and your girls to enjoy. Remember, too, the most important rule: A Girl Scout always leaves a place better than she found it. Take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints.
GIRL SCOUT SERVICE CENTERS
Troops are welcome to spend the night at the Service Centers located in Muskogee, Stillwater, Bartlesville, and McAlester. These facilities house staff offices and are open for business hours during the week. The Girl Scout Store is located at the Tulsa Service Center. The Service Centers make excellent locations for troop meetings or one-night slumber parties to introduce girls to troop overnights. Outdoor cooking facilities are not available.
TROOP MEETING FACILITIES
These properties are located in Henryetta, Cushing and Ponca City. The facilities are available for troop meetings, badge workshops, overnights and special events.
CAMP PAULINE WILLIAMS – Ft. Gibson Lake
Also known as Camp Polly, this facility is situated on the banks of Ft. Gibson Lake overlooking Ft. Gibson Dam. Cabin camping and tenting is available from the end of March through October. A winterized dining hall is available for overnights year round. Troops can enjoy hiking on trails that wind through some of the most beautiful scenery in Oklahoma as well as waterfront activities at the lake. The Pagoda and Inspiration Point are truly unique and not to be missed.
CAMP SWANNIE – North of Sand Springs
Located on the John Zink Scout Ranch and adjacent to Camp Tallchief, Camp Swannie shares many program possibilities with Tallchief. The pool, challenge course and Lake Tallchief are all within easy hiking distance along well-defined trails. Swannie also has a pond for fishing and an archery range as well as access to the same hiking trails as Tallchief. Swannie is available for camping year round with a variety of winterized facilities. However, it is also used for Resident Camp overflow during June and July.
CAMP SYLVIA STAPLEY – West of Stillwater
Hiking trails abound through the wooded areas of Sylvia Stapley. Girls – and adults – enjoy the quiet seclusion and scenic beauty of Stapley with its variety of sleeping accommodations and program opportunities. There is a pond on the site for waterfront activities and archery is available. Be sure to make time for enjoying the butterfly swings! The proximity to Stillwater also opens possibilities, especially for older girls, to visit Eskimo Joe’s and the OSU campus.
CAMP TALLCHIEF – North of Sand Springs
Located on the John Zink Scout Ranch, Tallchief is a fenced, wooded area with large open areas for a variety of outdoor activities. There are numerous trails of varying distance and difficulty. There is a pond and Lake Tallchief for water activities. The pool is open from the end of May through the second weekend in September. There is an archery range, challenge course and a volleyball court as well as a selection of other sports equipment such as tetherball and softball. Tallchief is a Resident Camp and is closed to troop camping from May to August. It is also reserved for Service Unit campouts during September, October and November, and during March, April and May.

CAMP WAH-SHAH-SHE – West of Bartlesville
Located on 524 acres, Camp Wah-Shah-She combines the rustic with the modern in a natural setting. Facilities include the spacious Lodge/Conference Center, equipped with central heat and air and sleeping accommodations for 90. Outdoor lodging is available in three platform tent units and seven Conestoga wagons. A fully-equipped kitchen and dining hall serve up to 250. EATON LODGE – Cushing
Located in a city park, Eaton Lodge offers a wide variety of program activities. There are charcoal grills throughout the park as well as playgrounds, ball fields, tennis courts and a nearby recreation center. In addition there is a water park within walking distance. The lodge is available for meetings and one-night overnights.
THE TROOP HOUSE – Tulsa
This is our “in the city, out in the country” troop camping site. It is available for special activities (badge workshops, ceremonies, cookouts and hikes) during the week and for one-night overnights on Friday and Saturday nights year round. The fenced grounds are heavily wooded which gives the feeling of being in the country rather than near the center of downtown.
Site Orientation
Please keep in mind that Council facilities are constantly changing to meet the needs of girls. Site orientation must be taken every five years to keep up with these changes and to be sure you have the latest information available.
Beyond Our Council Boundaries
If you are looking for experiences further afield and need suggestions, please feel free to contact the Director of Program Services at the Council Office in Tulsa by phoning 918-745-5220 or 1-800-707-9914 ext. 220. You can also use email. Many Girl Scout Councils are willing to share their facilities with traveling troops; the Outdoor Program Specialist will tell you how to contact them. You can also find help in locating archery instructors, canoeing instructors, lifeguards and other trained personnel for special activities.
