You may wonder if Girl Scouting is alive and well? We can assure you that it absolutely is.  We are excited about the work we do and are committed to building girls of courage, confidence and character!

According to a recent Harris Poll conducted by Girl Scouts of the USA, the more years a girl spends in Girl Scouting, the less likely she is to become a teen mom, experiment with drugs and alcohol and drop out of school. And the more likely she is to overall feel better about herself and advance her education beyond the high school years.

Did you know that only 1% of all Girl Scouts will ever go before a juvenile court as compared to the average?  That Girl Scouts are 32% more likely than other girls to refuse alcohol at a party and 40% more likely to not cheat on a test? And did you know that Girl Scouts are 72% more likely than other girls to choose the truth over succumbing to peer pressure?  And finally, 72% of all Girl Scouts say that the Girl Scout Promise and Law help them in making good decisions in their life.

The Girl Scouts pride themselves on making the girls of today the leaders of tomorrow and Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma is committed to the girls in our communities.

All of the work done at the Council supports our mission of “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place!”  As staff it is our job first to be inspired and second to inspire both the girls and adult volunteers whom we serve.  Many of our staff members are inspired by the changes made in their own life through Girl Scouting.  You might find it interesting that recently 45 staff were surveyed, of those 45, 30 of them have a cumulative 354 years of Girl Scouting experience as either a girl or adult volunteer – that is NOT including their years of working for Girl Scouts.  I think that’s a pretty telling statistic about the passion and belief in the overall Girl Scout mission.
