What is Day Camp? Day Camp is exactly what the word implies – camp by day, home by night – a fun-filled week of basic Girl Scout camping. We teach the first essential skills: building fires, preparing a campsite, setting up a tent, and learning to work as a team. At Day Camp, girls begin to gain that outdoor self-confidence for which Girl Scouts are famous.
Who May Attend? Any Girl Scout may attend Day Camp. Non-Girl Scouts may attend too, as space allows. Young children (3-5 years old) and sons of Day Camp staff have their own units.
Day Camp Registration: Our great Day Camps fill up quickly. Register as soon as possible. There is a maximum number of girls that may attend a Day Camp based on the number of adult volunteers available to staff each Day Camp. Registrations are accepted until camp is full, or through May 2. Each participant must register individually, including preschoolers and boys. Print or type all information on the registration form. Registrations cannot be processed without the deposit and parent/guardian signature. Signatures must be in ink. Mail or bring the registration to any GSEOK Service Center.
Confirmation: Confirmation of placement and a bill for the balance due will be sent to you mid-May. The balance of the Day Camp fee is due at the Girl Scout Service Center two weeks before the camp begins. Help us conserve our resources and get your confirmation by email! Check the appropriate box on the registration form and give us your email address.
Parent Packet: A parent packet will be sent to you from the Day Camp Director with information about your daughter’s camp approximately one week prior to camp.
Volunteer Staff: Volunteers staff all Day Camps. In this way the Council is able to keep the cost of Day Camp very low. Please remember that everyone providing Day Camp for your daughter is there because they want to be. Day Camp cannot happen without them! If you are able to volunteer, even just for a day or two, please complete the Volunteer Staff Application form and send it with your daughter’s registration. There are many positions available: roamer, bus monitor, unit leader, unit assistant, and program consultants. For further information call the Day Camp Director.
Discounts
Multiple Family Members: You will receive a discount for each additional Girl Scout in your family signing up for any camp program. For example, the first Girl Scout pays the full fee for her program; additional Girl Scouts from the same family receive a discount of the camp fee for their programs. See the chart below for discount Day Camp rates. The discount cannot be taken off the non-refundable registration fee. The registration fee must be paid in full.
