Home School and the Girl Scout Connection

How Home Schooled Girls Can Participate:

Juliettes:  For individually registered members who are not members of a troop and choose to work on their own with an adult advisor.

School Based Troop or Group:  Join a troop that is formed from the schools in her neighborhood.

Home School Troop or Group:  Join or start a troop of girls who are all home schooled.

Home School Sponsored Troop:  Join a troop of girls in her age group who are sponsored by a Home School Association.

Home School Sponsored Group:  Join a group of girls from all age groups who will be working on similar projects sponsored by a Home School Association.

How do you form a Home School Troop or Group?

  • The Home School Association or a parent recruits leaders from the association who will be positive role models for the girls.
  • The leader fills out a Volunteer Application and returns it to the Council for a background check and written references.
  • Appointment to a troop leadership position is done by the Service Unit Manager and reappointed yearly.
  • Training in Girl Scout Program is required and offered at no charge.

For more information about Home School Troops and Groups contact Ginger Peguesem>, Membership Executive.

Did you know...
Home School Troops or Groups may use any of the Council campsites within our 30 county jurisdiction.  Most of the campsites are not used during the week since most of our troops are school based.  Our campsites have locked facilities and some of the camps have a Ranger who lives on site.  The girls can stay in dormitory style buildings with outdoor or indoor cooking facilities.  The association may also use the camps for learning programs, overnights or for longer periods of time.  The Council requires training for campsite use which is offered at no charge.
