Participating in Council product sale programs is an excellent way for troops to provide activities designed to teach girls valuable life skills, earn money for the troop that can be used to pay for special troop projects, and provide service to the Council.> In the fall troops participate in our Fall Product Sale, which gives them an opportunity to earn money early in the year. Beginning in January, they participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Sale.> Participation in Council product sales is voluntary, and permission for each girl must be given in writing by a parent or guardian.
WHERE THE MONEY GOES
Proceeds from Council product sales are placed in the Council general operating fund and are used to pay for direct services to girls and leaders. These proceeds support our camping program and facilities, Council sponsored programs, leader training and adult development programs, property maintenance and development, Outreach programs, and financial assistance.
Troops also earn proceeds from participating in Council product sales.> These proceeds, like troop dues, are used to pay for pins and badges, field trips, fees for Council and Service Unit events, camping trips, service projects, and other special activities the girls choose to do.
PROGRAM
Most of all, participation in Council product sales is an important program activity.> Use these opportunities to teach girls about planning, setting and achieving goals, working as a team, customer relations, safety, decision making and evaluation.
HOW YOUR TROOP CAN PARTICIPATE
Each Service Unit has a volunteer Fall Product Sale Coordinator and a volunteer Cookie Sale Coordinator. This person will work with you to provide you with the information necessary for your troop to successfully participate in each program.> Every troop must have a trained product sale manager to participate in the sales. Specific information regarding these trainings will be received through your Service Unit.
Please contact Kathy, Director of Product Sale Programs, with any questions regarding these programs.
