The Girl Scout program is an informal educational program designed to help girls put into practice the fundamental principles of the Girl Scout Movement. It is carried out in small groups with adult leadership and provides a wide range of activities developed around the interests and needs of girls.
Girl Scouting is open to girls between the ages of 5 and 18, and to men and women over the age of 18, who make the Girl Scout Promise, accept the Girl Scout Law and pay annual membership dues of $12.
The mission of Girl Scouting is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

As the largest organization for girls in the world, Girl Scouts is the leading authority and advocate for girls. For more than 95 years, Girl Scouts has helped girls develop the skills they need to meet the challenges of a constantly changing world. Now, more than ever, girls can benefit from the values and mission of Girl Scouts.
- Studies show that being a Girl Scout has tangible benefits for girls both in their youth and as adults.
- Two-thirds of the women listed in Who's Who in America are Girl Scout alumnae.
- A recent Louis Harris poll (1999) shows two-thirds of women in professional achievement are Girl Scout alumnae - and many attribute their success in later life to youth-serving organizations such as Girl Scouts.
The evidence is clear, Girl Scouting truly does help today's girls become tomorrow's leaders!
