Service is inherent in the Girl Scout Promise and Law and is given without expectation of payment or reward. All girls take part in service activities or projects. The girls and the needs of the community determine service activities or projects. Councils provide support to girls in identifying potential service projects, locating resources, and planning service projects.
Awards are not provided for hours of service. However, girls may be recognized for special training, skill development, leadership, and accomplishments, and some form of written documentation indicating the service rendered may be given to girls for their records.
We encourage all Girl Scouts to be involved in Service Projects. Below are a select few Service Project opportunities. To find additional Service Projects, please be sure to check out our current publications.
