Sister to Sister

Sister-to-Sister, one of Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma's newest Outreach initiatives, strives to guide young ladies (ages 11-18) living in Tulsa’s housing communities to explore their ideas, dreams, feelings, and opportunities by helping them to understand their uniqueness as a person and individual potential as a young women.

erving twelve of Tulsa’s diverse housing communities for 24 years, we have observed that the normal weekly multi-age group/troop meetings do not allow the proper time or attention needed to serve girls ages 11-18.

Sister-to-Sister meets monthly to participate in activities offering opportunities to engage in positive social interaction with teen girls from other housing communities (all of which are served through the Tulsa Area United Way funded Membership Extension program), as well as with adult mentors from various professions in the community.

The Outreach staff understands that teen years are a pivotal stage in girls’ lives, and tends to compound the issues faced when living in the housing communities.
